Bettman Visits Calgary for World Cup Venue

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman visits Calgary on Monday to assess Scotia Place as a potential venue for the 2028 World Cup of Hockey.

Bettman, along with Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly, will meet with ownership and tour the arena's construction site. Calgary is among the finalists to host the four-team North American portion of the tournament, with venue announcements expected in two weeks.

The $1.2 billion Scotia Place, slated to open in fall 2027, would be ideal for the February 2028 event if selected.
