The San Jose Sharks (9th) and Los Angeles Kings (10th) are at different points in their development cycles, with the Kings expected to be major buyers at the deadline.

The Eastern Conference features Montreal Canadiens (7th) and Boston Bruins (8th) competing, with Columbus Blue Jackets (9th) also in the mix for the final playoff spots.
